In the News

Students performed at the Stokes Stomp on September 20,2008. This outdoor festival was sponsored by the Stokes County
Arts Council. It took place at Moratock Park in Danbury.

Students performed at
Kingfest on October 4, 2008. This outdoor festival held at Central Park in King was sponsored by the
King Chamber of Commerce.

During the month of September 2008, about 20 students participated in our"A Dancer Reads" contest. 770 dance related books
were read from September 8 to October 4. Eleven students read more than 25 books and/or 500 pages. As winners of our
contest, they received a custom designed t-shirt, a princess duck and a certificate.  . Alexandra and Elizabeth were crowned our
reading Queens on October 23. They each  read 126 books. They received a crown, a bouquet of roses, a t-shirt and certificate.
Certificates for all participants were given by the King Public Library.

On October 31, about 180 children and their parents enjoyed the "Not Too Scary" Haunted House.

Joyce Triche and three students attended the Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. convention at the Koury Center in Greensboro. They
took classes from master teachers on November 8 and 9, 2008.. Joyce Triche, a member of the board of directors of Carolina
Dance Masters, Inc. attended board and grand body meetings.

Nine students in musical theatre class at Priddy Manor Assisted Living on December 30, 2008. See pictures in the performance
gallery.

Joyce Triche and Megan Motley attended the Winter Workshop of Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. February 7,2009.
They took a special turn class as well as classes in acrobatics, tap, ballet and jazz. Mrs. Triche assisted with the scholarship
auditions on February 8.

Twenty-one students competed in the
Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. Performing Arts Competition held in Albemarle, NC
March 27-29,2009. The musical theatre number
Maybe received a Gold rating and a special award for singing and acting as well
as dancing. The open number
30 minutes choreographed and taught by Dawn Shropshire won 1st place for recreational groups
age 13 and older. Action pictures are in the performance gallery.

Jazz students performed at
Healthy Kids Day at the Stokes Family YMCA on April 15,2009.

Preschool students demonstrated skills at the
Little Folks Festival sponsored by Stokes Partnership for Children on April
25,2009.

One student competed in the
Marvonna Productions competition in Chapel Hill on May 3, 2009

National Dance Week was celebrated April 27 - May 2 with free classes for friends of current students.

Dance Day Camp II for children who are 9-12 years old
