Joyce Triche and Megan Motley attended the Winter Workshop of Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. February 7,2009.
They took a special turn class as well as classes in acrobatics, tap, ballet and jazz. Mrs. Triche assisted with the scholarship auditions
on February 8.
Twenty-one students competed in the Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. Performing Arts Competition held in Albemarle, NC March
27-29,2009. The musical theatre number Maybe received a Gold rating and a special award for singing and acting as well as dancing.
The open number 30 minutes choreographed and taught by Dawn Shropshire won 1st place for recreational groups age 13 and older.

Jazz students performed at Healthy Kids Day at the Stokes Family YMCA on April 15,2009.
Preschool students demonstrated skills at the Little Folks Festival sponsored by Stokes Partnership for Children on April 25,2009.
One student competed in the Marvonna Productions competition in Chapel Hill on May 3, 2009
National Dance Week was celebrated April 27 - May 2 with free classes for friends of current students.
Spring Production Dancing in Light was held at the Stevens Center of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts on June
13,2009
Joyce Triche presented two programs at the Danbury Public Library on June 29, 2009 and two programs on July 1 at the King Public
Library. These programs were part of the summer reading program and emphasized using everyday objects in a creative way.
July 27 -29,2009, Joyce Triche participated in the Dance Masters of America, Inc. Teachers Training School in Buffalo, NY
Students. performed at the Stokes Stomp on September 12-13, 2009. This outdoor festival was sponsored by the Stokes County
Arts Council. It took place at Moratock Park in Danbury. See pictures in the performance gallery
Students performed at Kingfest on October 3, 2009. This outdoor festival held at Central Park in King was sponsored by the King
Chamber of Commerce.
From September 14 - October 17,2009, 18 students participated in our"A Dancer Reads" contest. 509 dance related books with over
14.700 pages were read Seven students read more than 30 dance related books and/or 1000 pages. As winners of our contest, they
received a custom designed t-shirt, and a book . Sarah was crowned our reading Queen on November 2. She read 112 books with
3576 pages. She received a crown, a bouquet of roses, a t-shirt and a book. Certificates for all participants will be given by the King
Public Library.
On October 17, 2009 Francesca, Gabrielle and Sarah practiced their acrobatics skills for two hours and raised money for Cystic
Fibrosis research. They raised a total on $280.00 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
On October 31,2009 more than 750 children received treats as part of the Downtown Trick or Treat. Several went through the
"haunted" maze..
On November 12, 2009 Joyce Triche was named Business Leader of 2009 by the King Chamber of Commerce at their annual awards
banquet.
On November 14-15, 2009, Mary Katherine, Carlie and Megan joined Joyce Triche in attending the Carolina Dance Masters, Inc.
annual convention held at the Koury Convention center in Greensboro. They took several hours of master classes
On December 28, 2009 alumni of Miss Joyce's Dance Studio met at the studio for refreshments and pictures as part of our 40th year
celebration.
On December 29,2009 musical theatre and lyrical class students presented a program of holiday music and dance at Priddy Manor
Assisted Living.
