
Joyce Slate Triche --- Director/Instructor:
EDUCATION - 10 years dance training at Dorminy Studios, including leading roles in
Ballet Guild Productions of Blue God and Giselle , BFA degree in Ballet from Texas
Christian University with minor in Theatre, performed in Sleeping Beauty,Kaletdoscope,
Brigadoon and Skin of Your Teeth, stage manager for Hamlet, and numerous technical
crews. Member of Dance Masters of America, Inc. certified to teach Ballet, Tap and
Acrobatics, holds a continuing education certification from Dance Masters of America, Inc
by taking required number of hours of masters classes each year. Mrs. Triche attended
State Convention, Winter Workshop of Carolina Dance Masters Chapter #15 and the
Teacher Training School of Dance Masters of America, Inc. during 2007-2008 taking
over 50 hours of continuing education classes.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE - over 40 years of teaching experience including: NC Dept.
of Public Instruction Arts Enrichment Program, Ft. Worth, Texas Parks & Rec. Dept. Mt.
Airy Fine Arts Carnival, W-S YWCA, Dorminy Studios, workshops for preschool children
for Stokes County Arts Council, Master Classes for teachers in Children's Work for
Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. director and primary instructor for Miss Joyce's Dance
Studio since 1970
DANCE and BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS - Member of Dance Masters of America, Inc.
since 1972, having served Carolina Dance Masters Chapter #15 as a member of the
board of directors, Director of Performing Arts Competition, Co-Chair of Solo Title
Scholarship Competition, Election Committee Chairman and certified chapter examiner
for Ballet, Tap and Acrobatics exams. Mrs. Triche is currently serving as a director on
the Board of Directors and as Hallmark Committee chairman.
Member of King Chamber of Commerce currently serving on the Membership Committee
Dawn Shropshire Webster - Jazz Instructor
EDUCATION - 14 years dance training at Miss Joyce's Dance Studio including class and
private lessons and teacher training, UNC-Greensboro BS degree in dance education ,
continuing education classes through Carolina Dance Masters, Inc. , dancing with alban
elved dance company, a Winston-Salem based modern dance group
TEACHING EXPERIENCE - 8th year teaching Jazz at Miss Joyce's Dance Studio,
substitute teacher at Miss Joyce's for 4 years, Full time dance teacher at East Forsyth
High School where she has been building a strong modern-based dance program since 2001
Founded E.Co.Dance in 2003, a student company which hopes to raise money for charity and
to support local artists through fund raising performances. The company’s work focuses on
abstract expressions that reflect life experiences and how people relate to one another.
Choreographed A Midsummer Night's Dream, Annie and Babes in Arms for the Talon
Theatrical Company of East Forsyth High School. Dawn has taught master classes at the
SARUS Festival in Wilmington. Dawn teaches with Arts Connection, an educational program
that teaches dance and drama in elementary schools.
PERFORMING - Numerous performances at UNC-G including graduate thesis, BFA and
departmental productions
Dawn danced with alban elved dance company, a W-S based modern dance group. She has
performed Lena’s Bath and Anders Al Du. Performed with this company at the American
Dance Festival in Durham.
DANCE ASSOCIATION - Ms. Webster became a member of Carolina Dance Masters
chapter #15 of Dance Masters of America, Inc. on November 12, 2006. She is certified by
test to teach Jazz and Modern by this professional dance teachers organization. She was
named lead dance teacher for Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools in November 2006.
Member of NCAAPHERD, organization of public school dance educators. Dawn is the board
chair of the Alban Elven Dance Company.
Susan Shelton - Vocal Instructor
EDUCATION - UNC-G degree in Early Childhood Education, music and voice training
TEACHING EXPERIENCE - Choir director at Pinnacle View Baptist Church Adult Choir
for 11 years , youth and children's choir leader and director for 15 years
Susan has taught the vocal section of Musical Theatre class at Miss Joyce's Dance Studio
for 4 years. She taught preschool classes at King Moravian Preschool for 3 years. Taught
second grade for 2 years and a 4th/5th grade class for 3 years at Shoals Elementary in
Surry County. Mrs. Shelton is currently teaching a Kindergarten class at Mount Olive
Elementary in Stokes County.
PERFORMING - Sang with UNC-G's Woman's choir, Elkin Community Chorus and Vocé
appeared in the Surry County Arts Council's production of Sound of Music July 2005
