In the News

Students performed at the Stokes Stomp on September 20,2008. This outdoor festival was sponsored by the Stokes
County Arts Council. It took place at Moratock Park in Danbury.

Students performed at
Kingfest on October 4, 2008. This outdoor festival held at Central Park in King was sponsored by
the King Chamber of Commerce.

During the month of September 200
8, about 20 students participated in our"A Dancer Reads" contest. 770 dance related
books were read from September 8
to October 4. Eleven students read more than 25 books and/or 500 pages. As winners
of our contest, they received a custom designed t-shirt,
a princess duck and a certificate.  . Alexandra and Elizabeth were
crowned our reading Queen
s on October 23. They each  read 126 books. They received a crown, a bouquet of roses, a
t-shirt and certificate.
Certificates for all participants were given by the King Public Library.

On October 31, about 1
80 children and their parents enjoyed the "Not Too Scary" Haunted House.

Joyce Triche and Dawn Webster attended the Carolina Dance Mastes, Inc. convention at the Koury Center in Greensboro.
They took continuing education classes from master teachers. JoyceTriche taught a preschool dance classes for teachers
and she was re-elected to the board of directors of Carolina Dance Masters, Inc.

Nine students in musical theatre class performed on Global Gospel Radio and at Priddy Manor Assisted Living on
December 28, 2007. See pictures in the performance gallery.

Mr Jacob Toth taught master classes for jazz students on January 21, 2008. See pictures in the picture gallery.

Shanna Stanley, a senior at Miss Joyce's, won the Acrobatics Category Award at the Carolina Dance Masters scholarship
auditions held in Graham on February 3. 2008.

Students performed at Priddy Manor on March 29, 2008.

Beginner jazz students performed at
Healthy Kids Day at the Stokes Family YMCA on April 12,2008.

Preschool students demonstrated skills at the Little Folks Festival sponsored by Stokes Partnership for Children on April
19,2008.

Four students competed in the
White Lightning Talent Competition in Lincolnton on April 20,2008.

National Dance Week was celebrated April 19 - April 25 with free classes for friends of current students.

Twenty-one students competed in
Tri-State Dance Contest in Asheville on April 26-27,2008.  

Spring Production
